Building Our Community: Our Donation to the ellenor Children’s Hospice

13 October 2022

Wards are committed to helping our communities and giving back. Thats why, this year, our founders foundation, The Paul Rooney Family Foundation has once again supported our long-time friends at ellenor with a generous donation.

ellenor provide hospice care for both adults and children living in North Kent and Bexley and have been friends of ours for years. Currently, they help over 270,000 people and provide support to friends and families in the best way they can.

This year, ellenor were looking to expand by building a brand-new wellbeing centre. The centre will offer brilliantly improved outpatient facilities and enable extra space for play therapy, counselling, and a range of other activities.

In previous years, we’ve assisted ellenor through donations, fundraising, and even by giving up some of our office space in one of our branches to give ellenor nurses space to be closer to their patients.

Through the Paul Rooney Foundation, we are supporting ellenor by donating £100,000 to help towards their new wellbeing centre.

“Our charity support is all about helping children overcoming adversity, and young carers and families facing particular trauma. It’s nice that we, as estate agents take a different view and truly want to give back to our community. Paul Rooney, our chairman, came from humble beginnings and he has never forgotten this – he always wanted to give something back and has always loved children.”

David Lench, Former Managing Director of Arun Estates and Chairman of the Paul Rooney Foundation.

For us, it is so important to recognise our good fortune and to continue to support and care for our community. With us marking our centenary year, and the current cost-of-living crisis, we wanted to give back in the best way we could.
