We're Giving £1 Million to Support Barnardo's

09 November 2022

We are raising £1 Million to help support vulnerable children in your local community, but we wanted to give you a little more insight into just how we are planning to do it.

We’ve always given back to our community, whether that’s through our donations through the Paul Rooney Family Foundation, through our staff’s efforts in fundraising or just raising awareness about some great charities.

This September, we were eager to give back even more. We’ve pledged to donate £1 Million to help support vulnerable children across the Southeast with the help of Barnardo’s children’s charity.

For every property valuation, we attend, we will be donating £100 on your behalf.

We sat down with Barnardo’s Regional Director, Emma Bowman, to talk about just how your donations can make a real difference to the vulnerable children in our community.

“As an organisation, we also amplify the voices of young people to influence the government on the issues that affect their lives, fighting their corner and making sure their voices are heard.”

Giving back to our community is such a big part of who we are at Wards, and that’s why we wanted to support an amazing and historical charity like Barnardo’s.

Barnardo’s has been helping children for over 100 years, providing care, education, and awareness for vulnerable children across the UK.

The fallout of the pandemic and the current cost-of-living crisis has and will continue to affect so many vulnerable children across the Southeast. With children exposed to unprecedented levels of trauma, loss, and adversity, Barnardo’s are focused on stepping in to support children and young people before they reach the crisis point.

“The cost-of-living crisis is also getting worse and more frightening every day with the most vulnerable children being hardest hit.”

All of us are aware of just how much of an impact the rising costs and U-turns on tax cancellations have been, but to children, these issues aren’t as simple to understand, and so they are uncertain of their current and future prospects.

Barnardo’s have been there to help those most vulnerable, and to step in to provide care, education, and support in these times of crisis.

Since September 2022, we’ve been donating £100 to Barnardo’s every time you book a valuation with us.

“The extremely generous donations from Arun Estates will make a very real difference to the children and families we support. On behalf of those families, we would like to say a big thank you.

Even small things can make a huge difference to a child living in poverty. For example, providing food parcels or supermarket vouchers can mean children don’t go hungry this winter, and providing energy vouchers means children can wake up in a warm home.”

We’ve been working hard with Barnardo’s to ensure that we can support the most vulnerable children and young people, and we will donate £1 million, but we need your help!

Our Managing Director, Aldo Sotgiu, said that “Supporting our community is an important part of our culture, and working with Barnardo’s continues our strong tradition of giving something back. Every donation we make on behalf of our customers is set to change the lives of children across the Southeast, which is more important now than ever with the additional pressures being faced and we look forward to sharing more of the amazing work we’re supporting.”
